Working Together To END Book-Poverty for Local Children in 2012

More than 100,000 children in the Portland Metro Area live in poverty with no books in their home to read. Studies show that this contributes to lower early reading ability, a downward slide of reading skills during the summer and ultimately, higher school drop-out rates. Social Venture Partner Mark Van Ness is offering a donation of one million gently used children's books to our community (an estimated $2 million value) being delivered over the next 12 months to solve this problem for our children in 2012.
